Exploring Wash Common
On Tuesday 22nd, Year 3 and the Den children ventured out to explore Wash Common. The main focus of their field trip was to get a better understanding of local area, identifying physical and human features as well as understanding the land use and how it has changed over time. The children used their geography learning as well as information provided by local resident, Mrs Fenn to plot their findings on a map and share their ideas with each other. Some of the human and physical features identified were the water tower, allotments, community centre, parade of shops and woodland area. The children showed great enthusiasm on their way round.
'I got to actually see the human and physical features in real life.'Emma
'It's really important that we respect and care for our local area.' Remmi
'I liked the trip because we were walking and I saw lots of human features.' Harry W
'I enjoyed being outside but we were still learning!' Molly
