Safeguarding at Falkland

Safeguarding is a shared responsibility at Falkland Primary School, embraced by all staff, governors, and volunteers. Protecting the welfare of every child is a priority embedded throughout our school. Safeguarding is a standing agenda item at phase meetings, staff meetings, pastoral and safeguarding meetings, Senior Leadership Team meetings, and Full Governing Board meetings.

Our team uses CPOMs to record and manage all safeguarding concerns promptly and effectively, ensuring that every detail—every “piece of the puzzle”—contributes to a safe and supportive environment for our children.

Purpose of Our Safeguarding Policy

Our safeguarding policy provides clear guidelines on expected practices and reinforces our commitment to developing high standards in safeguarding, training, and procedures. We ensure that safeguarding concerns are handled with sensitivity, professionalism, and a focus on protecting children’s needs.

Our policy is built on three key aims:

  1. Prevention– Creating a positive, secure school environment with high-quality teaching and pastoral care.
  2. Protection– Following approved procedures and ensuring all staff are thoroughly recruited, trained, and supported.
  3. Support– Offering assistance to children and staff who may have been, or are at risk of, harm.

Safeguarding Definitions and Responsibilities

In line with the Department for Education (DfE) guidelines, safeguarding involves:
